📜 Scroll of the Watcher: The Tale of Badger Run

The portal shimmered like moonlight upon water, and I, Garthaan the Last Watcher, stepped through. On the far side, I beheld not a kingdom nor fortress, but a haven—a place where mortals labor with tireless hearts for the wounded and forsaken creatures of this realm. They call it Badger Run Wildlife Rehab.

A Refuge for the Wild

For over twenty years, Badger Run has stood as the only licensed and permitted sanctuary within the Klamath Watershed. Here, the sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife of Southern Oregon—falcons and owls and badgers, reptiles and more—are taken in. Near 200 animals a year pass through their gates, each receiving care worthy of a hero. (I have been told that they CANNOT rehab deer, coyotes, cougars, skunks, raccoons, or bears.  ODFW rules.)

The Hands that Heal

Their company is small yet noble. Aside from a single role kept alive by grant—a steadfast animal care manager—all who serve are volunteers. Their strength lies not in coin, but in devotion. Donations and grants are the lifeblood of this place.

The Oath They Swear

Badger Run bears a mission most sacred:
“To heal, to release, to restore the wild.”
When an animal can return to the forests and skies, they send it forth. But for those whose wounds bind them forever, Badger Run grants sanctuary through their educational ambassador program—teaching mortals to honor the balance of life and the bond of all creatures.

A Crucial Hour

Yet even the strongest sanctuary faces trials. Their founder and animal care manager, Liz, who has carried this mantle for decades, now seeks retirement beyond these lands. To preserve the refuge, Badger Run must purchase the very ground upon which it stands. Without it, the future of this sanctuary falters.

A great fundraiser is underway. The goal: $384,000. Already the first steps are taken, but much road lies ahead. Without the support of good folk, the gates of this refuge may one day close.

A Call to Heroes

I, Garthaan, call upon you: travelers, families, and champions of Arkai. If the wild stirs your heart, lend your aid. Every coin, great or small, strengthens this sanctuary’s walls. Your gift is tax deductible—and more than that, it becomes a legacy of compassion.
